J.R. Martinez wins The Mirror Ball

America voted for J.R. Martinez and he walked away with the mirror ball last evening on Dancing with the Stars.  J.R. is a great dancer.  I felt that his performance the last few weeks was off, but he proved straight through that he is a talent.  That talent in combination with his great stage presence and personality won over America.

I have to say that I was somewhat surprised that Ricki Lake took third place, but then again, you never know what motivated the people's vote.  Ricki clearly is a better dancer than Rob Kardashian…but Rob most certainly has grown the most!  He earned his place in the finals. I think that Dancing with the Stars and the American people helped this young man leave the shadow of his famous family. Kudos to him!

Dancing with the Stars Upset

What an upset last night on Dancing with the Stars!  Rob Kardashian is in the lead … and, in my opinion, deserves to be!  Up until last night I was sure that the real competition was going to be between Ricki Lake and R. J. Martinez but last night proved it's anybody's mirror ball.

Rob danced a beautiful waltz which earned him 27 points followed by a very exciting freestyle dance which gave him his first perfect score!  Ricki earned 27 points for each of her dances last night giving Rob the room necessary to take the lead.  J.R. somehow didn't seem engaged in his first dance but gave a great performance on his freestyle hip hop dance.

Tonight's Dancing with the Stars should be exciting.  Let's see what America has decided.

David Arquette is Eliminated

This week's elimination on Dancing with the Stars was David Arquette. This was somewhat of a surprise to me.  I thought David Arquette worked hard and performed some really good dances…better than, in my opinion, Nancy Grace and Hope Solo.

When we knew that it was Nancy Grace and David Arquette in the bottom two, I was certain that Nancy Grace was going to be the one to leave.  I think the audience was in my camp.  When the announcement was made that it was David who was leaving, you could see on Nancy Grace's face that she knew it should have been her.

The bottom line is that there are two contenders – Ricki Lake and J.R. Martinez.  The others are going to be sent home and I don't suppose it matters in what order they get sent home. Some of the dancers left really are not dancers!  Rob Kardashian who seems like a very nice young man can often be seen walking instead of dancing across the floor.  Hope Solo is about as graceful as an anvil.

Dancing with the Stars is like a soap opera and reality show in one that keeps its audience tuned in.  There is so many personality clashes and Dancing with the Stars makes sure that we are made aware of them.  That keeps viewership up.  Maksim Chmerkovskiy is a perfect example.  Though he is a fantastic dancer and is very handsome, he clearly has anger issues and treats women (categorically) like a doormat.  I wouldn't be surprised  if his outbursts on Dancing with the Stars hurts his love life.  I cannot imagine what women would want to date him after watching how he behaves. Good looks only go so far.

We'll keep watching to see who is next to go.
